Iyabo Ojo Arinzo sequel has earned ₦333.8 million at the box office as the Nollywood thriller expands globally
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has recorded a major box office success as her action-thriller, The Return of Arinzo, grossed ₦333.8 million weeks after its cinema release across West Africa.
The film debuted in Nigerian cinemas on April 3, 2026, and has maintained powerful momentum at the box office, attracting large audiences in Nigeria, Ghana, and Liberia.
Celebrating the milestone, the production team thanked moviegoers across the region for supporting the project.
“A whopping ₦333.8 million in the box office bag, and this is only possible thanks to you, our amazing audience. Thank you, West Africa, for showing up and showing out,” the statement read.
Directed and produced by Iyabo Ojo, the gripping sequel follows a rising actor who returns to Nigeria with his fiancée to support his father’s presidential campaign.
The homecoming, however, reignites a 17-year-old political scandal tied to the presumed death of Arinzo, dragging several characters into a dangerous cycle of betrayal, revenge, and political intrigue.
The film explores identity, ambition, and power struggles while delivering intense action and suspense that have resonated strongly with cinema audiences.
One of the project’s standout strengths is its pan-African cast. Iyabo Ojo stars alongside Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe.
The supporting cast includes Uzor Arukwe, Bimbo Akintola, Yinka Quadri and Enioluwa Adeoluwa. Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux also feature in the blockbuster production.
Distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the movie is also screening at selected Odeon cinemas in the United Kingdom as part of its expanding international rollout.
The production team has scheduled international premieres in Toronto on May 9 and Winnipeg on May 10, ahead of an American tour set to begin on May 15.
Industry observers say the impressive performance of the Iyabo Ojo Arinzo sequel reflects Nollywood’s growing commercial influence and rising global demand for African stories with strong cultural appeal.
With ticket sales still climbing, The Return of Arinzo is rapidly emerging as one of Nollywood’s defining cinematic successes of 2026.
