Iyabo Ojo Challenges Lizzy Anjorin Over Alleged Defamation Claims

Iyabo Ojo takes legal action against Lizzy Anjorin over alleged defamatory claims involving her family and accusations of online harassment

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has issued a formal legal rebuttal to allegations made by her colleague, Lizzy Anjorin, escalating their long-running dispute over claims of defamation and online harassment.

The statement, dated October 13, 2026, was issued by Lagos-based law firm The Maverick, which represents Ojo, her daughter, Priscilla Ajoke Ojo Mkambala, her son-in-law, Juma Mkambala, and her grandson, Rakeem Mkambala.

Titled “Rejoinder and Rebuttal to the Malicious, Libelous and Defamatory Publication by One Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal on the 11th Day of October, 2026”, the document was shared by Ojo on Instagram on Wednesday, October 14.

According to the legal statement, Anjorin allegedly claimed that Ojo and her daughter controlled a network of more than 100 bloggers who were being used to target and harass her.

However, Ojo’s legal representatives rejected the allegations, describing them as malicious, defamatory and unfounded.

The lawyers maintained that Anjorin should substantiate her claims through the appropriate legal process rather than make statements they argue could damage the reputations of Ojo and her family members.

The statement also referenced two legal matters involving the actresses: Appeal No. CA/LAG/CV/1013/2025, in the case of Madam Alice Iyabo Ojo v. Lizzy Anjorin Lawal, and Suit No. LD/ADR/5292/2023.

The references indicate that the dispute has involved legal proceedings beyond the latest exchange of public statements.

Ojo’s legal team also called on Anjorin to refrain from further publications they consider defamatory.

The latest development follows a cease-and-desist notice previously issued by Anjorin, who accused Ojo’s camp of engaging in what she described as a sustained campaign of defamation and cyberbullying against her.

Ojo’s latest legal response challenges the allegations and signals her representatives’ intention to address the matter through legal channels.

The statement concluded with the words, “Whoever comes to equity should do so with clean hands,” emphasising the need for fairness in the dispute.
