Sophia Momodu, mother of Nigerian singer Davido’s first child, Imade Adeleke, on Monday in Lagos defended herself against claims that she prevented the child from attending Davido’s birthday celebration in Atlanta. In a post shared on Snapchat, Sophia criticised what she called a long-running pattern of misinformation targeting her and her daughter.

She said her decision-making remained guided by her protective instincts as a mother, stressing that Imade’s privacy and well-being were her highest priorities.

According to Sophia, repeated attempts to push misleading narratives had persisted for more than a decade.

She pleaded with the public to refrain from dragging her daughter into online controversies, noting that criticism directed at her was tolerable, but involving the child was unacceptable.

Sophia warned that she would not hesitate to pursue legal action against individuals spreading fabricated stories about Imade.

She insisted that the young girl was not a bargaining tool and should not be used to pressure her into compliance with public expectations.

The controversy followed Imade’s absence from Davido’s 33rd birthday celebration, which was held in Atlanta and attended by family members, including his other daughter, Hailey.
