Princess Anne-Inyang, Nigerian gospel legend and voice behind the 1996 classic “Akanam Nkwe”, is poised for a powerful comeback with her upcoming single “You’re the Sunshine.

The highly anticipated track is set for release on August 30, across major music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and YouTube Music.
Speaking in Abuja during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the iconic singer shared her excitement about the track.
Rendered in both Ibibio and English, the new single is a refreshing fusion of tradition and modernity—featuring highlife rhythms, talking drums, and contemporary gospel production.
“I want to bring back the old way where gospel songs were known not just for rhythm, but for the power of their message,” Princess Anne-Inyang said.
With this release, she aims to bridge generations of listeners by blending vibrant percussion and modern African sounds.
It’s part of her ongoing mission to reconnect with both younger and older gospel music lovers in a language and rhythm they understand.
Earlier this year, in June, Princess Anne-Inyang hosted a major live concert in Akwa Ibom, an event that not only celebrated her enduring legacy but also raised funds for her foundation and supported new music production efforts.
