Blessing CEO apologises, opens up about grief over son’s death

Blessing CEO apology comes in an emotional video as the influencer expresses regret and speaks about the pain of losing her son, Bryan

Nigerian social media personality and relationship commentator Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has apologised for her past comments, saying she has learnt a painful lesson and is seeking an opportunity to make amends.

Okoro made the apology in an emotional Instagram video on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in which she also spoke about the death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan, and the difficulty of coping with the loss.

The video comes days after her release on bail in late October, following her detention at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos over separate fraud allegations.

Bryan died in a hospital on June 8, 2026, while his mother was in custody. He reportedly had a history of chronic asthma and recurring health challenges.

In the video, Okoro was seen crying inside a car. She explained that she had left home because she did not want her mother to see her in distress.

“My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I’m confused. My brain is numb,” she said, describing her emotional state.

The influencer acknowledged that some of her previous remarks had hurt people, admitting that she had spoken carelessly about experiences she had not personally endured.

“I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly,” she said.

Reflecting on the criticism she had received, Okoro said she now understood that apologies and promises needed to be supported by action. She described herself as ashamed of her mistakes and said she was facing the consequences of her words.

She also appealed to people who felt hurt by her comments, as well as supporters who had withdrawn their affection, to forgive her.

Okoro described her return to her family as a decision to seek refuge in a place where she had previously been loved and accepted. Referring to the biblical story of the prodigal son, she said she was not ashamed to return home and begin again.

A significant part of the video focused on her late son, whom she affectionately called “Doom Doom”. She said she missed Bryan deeply and regretted not being with him before his death.

“To my son who passed, whom I call Doom Doom, I miss you. I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong,” she said.

Okoro also spoke about the effect of the loss on other members of the family, particularly her mother, whom she said had been struggling with grief. She disclosed that they sometimes hid from each other to cry.

She mentioned Bryan’s father, brother and other relatives, saying they continued to miss him. She also recalled wanting to collect his school bag, uniform, lunchbox and books as she tried to come to terms with his death.

The influencer expressed regret that she had not been present when her son died, repeatedly apologising to him in the video.

“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late,” she said.

Towards the end of the recording, Okoro appealed for divine help, describing the pain of losing a child as overwhelming.

Her apology and account of her grief come as she seeks to rebuild her relationship with supporters and address the consequences of her earlier public statements. While she expressed a willingness to make amends, she did not identify specific steps she would take beyond her promise to correct her mistakes.
