The ceremony took place on Sunday, March 29, at the church, drawing attention across social media and religious circles.

The groom, who is non-verbal and requires daily assistance, was reportedly abandoned at a young age and has since been under the care of Chibuzor Chinyere.

The Chinyere autistic marriage controversy began after the pastor initially sought a wife for the young man, a move that attracted strong reactions, with critics describing the arrangement as inappropriate and raising concerns about dignity and consent.

Despite the backlash, Chibuzor Chinyere proceeded with the wedding and announced significant financial support for the couple.

He disclosed that the package includes a N10 million gift, a house and an overseas vacation, alongside a long-term financial pledge.

In a statement shared on social media, Chibuzor Chinyere framed the decision as an effort to provide companionship and support for Aboy Chibuzor, while also emphasising the role of faith in the development.

Following earlier criticism, Chibuzor Chinyere had issued an apology, stating that he had no intention of demeaning women.

The pastor reiterated that his actions were guided by compassion and a desire to improve the young man’s quality of life.

In a notable development, Chibuzor Chinyere claimed that signs of improvement had already emerged, stating that Aboy Chibuzor had begun feeding himself without assistance.

The development has continued to generate intense debate, with supporters pointing to the charitable intentions behind the initiative, while critics maintain concerns over ethics and social implications.
