Aloba fresh claims spark tension over Mohbad family dispute

Aloba’s fresh claims intensify the Mohbad family dispute as the late singer’s father questions a claimed wedding and insists on a DNA test

Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, released a new online video on 28 November 2025 in Lagos making fresh allegations against the singer’s widow, Wunmi, and renewing his call for a DNA test on their son.

In the recorded statement, Aloba insisted that unresolved questions remained around the paternity of the child and challenged claims that a traditional wedding had taken place between Mohbad and Wunmi.

He said he attended only an introduction ceremony and was surprised to hear suggestions that a full marriage occurred without the knowledge of the family’s head.

Aloba questioned who collected the alleged bride price and maintained that the introduction was the first time he met Wunmi’s family.

He said the absence of clarity around the ceremony fuelled his doubts and contributed to the ongoing dispute.

The grieving father also alleged that before Mohbad’s death the singer confided in him about discovering Wunmi with another man.

According to Aloba, Mohbad shared the account with a close friend, an elder sibling and his mother before relaying it to him, prompting the cancellation of planned wedding arrangements. Aloba described these concerns as powerful reasons behind his insistence on a DNA test.
