The court presided over by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga, ruled on Tuesday that two separate DNA tests be conducted on Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of late Nigerian artiste Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The paternity request was filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, as part of broader efforts to clarify lingering questions surrounding his son’s death and family affairs.

In a significant ruling, Magistrate Sonuga directed that:

  • One DNA test be conducted within Nigeria
  • A second test be conducted outside the country in a foreign hospital

The respondent, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba—Mohbad’s widow and Liam’s mother—did not oppose the court’s decision.

Her acceptance of the dual testing procedure was noted by the court as a sign of cooperation.

The case has now been adjourned until November 11, allowing time for the necessary arrangements and testing to be completed.

The Mohbad DNA test order adds another layer to the public and legal scrutiny following Mohbad’s controversial passing in 2023.
