Mohbad’s widow Omowunmi Aloba alleges her father-in-law wants a negative DNA result in the ongoing paternity dispute over their son Liam
Omowunmi Aloba, widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has made a series of serious allegations regarding the ongoing family dispute over the paternity of her son, Liam, during a recent interview aired on Channels Television.
Speaking on the long-running Mohbad DNA test controversy, Omowunmi claimed that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, is allegedly hoping that the DNA test outcome will not support her son’s paternity claim.
She said tensions between both families existed even before the singer’s death in 2023 and were rooted in unresolved internal disagreements.
“Yeah, we used to be best of friends. So I think we fell out after I had my child,” she said.
Omowunmi explained that the situation escalated after the birth of her son and issues surrounding his naming ceremony, describing it as a family disagreement that later grew into a larger conflict.
“It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues… it was just a family feud that became something very big,” she added.
The widow of the late singer argued that public perception of the dispute is often shaped by events after his death, rather than the earlier family issues.
“A lot of people online feel like it’s all about the demise of my husband. But in reality, it is because of the family feud we had before his demise,” she stated.
She further alleged that shortly after Mohbad’s death, discussions with her father-in-law focused heavily on property and royalties rather than emotional support or family stability.
“He was just talking about my husband’s property and all of that,” she claimed.
Omowunmi also alleged that Joseph Aloba’s stance on the DNA matter suggests he desires a specific outcome.
“What he actually wants can never happen. He wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said.
She added that the conflict has reached a point where reconciliation appears unlikely.
“It has really got to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore,” she stated.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances that triggered nationwide protests, investigations, and ongoing legal disputes involving inheritance, royalties, and paternity claims.
His father, Joseph Aloba, has consistently insisted on a DNA test before final burial arrangements, while Omowunmi maintains that her son, Liam, is the biological child of the late singer.
The Mohbad DNA test controversy continues to generate public debate as legal and family disputes remain unresolved.
