Nigerian music producer Igbinoba Osaze, professionally known as Ozedikus Nwanne, has opened up about his challenging transition from gospel music to mainstream production, revealing the financial struggles that shaped his early career in the industry.

The Ozedikus gospel to mainstream journey highlights a defining period in the producer’s life, as he explained in a recent interview that while gospel music provided a strong creative foundation, it lacked the financial support needed to sustain his ambitions.

Ozedikus said his early days were marked by persistence and sacrifice, including months of playing the piano in church without payment, a reality that forced him to reassess his career direction and seek more viable opportunities.

He noted that despite his deep connection to gospel music, the limited studio activity among gospel artistes at the time made it difficult to grow professionally, pushing him towards mainstream production where demand and earnings were more consistent.

The producer described the transition as intense and exhausting, particularly as he balanced both creative responsibilities and the business side of music before eventually bringing in a manager to help structure his work.

According to Ozedikus, it was around 2017 that he made a decisive move into full-time production, a turning point that set the stage for his eventual rise in Nigeria’s competitive music scene.
