Oladips Shockingly Arrested Over Tax Issue

Oladips reveals he was arrested and detained by EFCC over alleged tax evasion, despite having no involvement in internet fraud.

Oladips has revealed a shocking encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, recounting how he was arrested and detained over alleged tax evasion.

The Nigerian rapper, whose real name is Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, told Hip TV that EFCC operatives stormed his estate at around 3am in November 2024. He described officers raiding homes and arresting residents on fraud allegations.

“It was just a normal night. EFCC entered my estate—it’s a big estate—and they were going from house to house arresting people. I was on my bed pressing my phone because I don’t do Yahoo, I don’t do fraud. Na person wey do fraud go dey run,” he said.

Oladips added that the officials even broke into his kitchen and seized his phones for investigation. When they found no evidence linking him to fraud activities, the questioning shifted to tax compliance.

“When they didn’t see anything to hold me down, one of their oga asked if I pay tax. That’s how they locked me up for not paying tax,” Oladips stated.

Despite the frightening experience, Oladips emphasised that he had no involvement in internet fraud, highlighting the sometimes-overreaching nature of enforcement operations.
