EFCC Arraigns Hamisu Breaker, G Fresh For Naira Abuse

 EFCC has arraigned singer Hamisu Breaker, star G Fresh for Naira abuse in Kano. Both pleaded guilty and were fined ₦200,000 or face five months in jail

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned popular Hausa singer Hamisu Breaker and TikTok influencer Abubakar Ibrahim, popularly known as G Fresh, before the Federal High Court in Kano for abuse of the Nigerian currency.

Presiding over the case, Justice Sale Musa Shuaibu read out charges related to the spraying and mishandling of Naira notes during public celebrations. Both defendants pleaded guilty.

As a result, the court sentenced Hamisu Breaker and G Fresh to five months imprisonment each, with an option to pay a ₦200,000 fine.

Abuse of the Naira is a punishable offense under Nigerian law. We urge entertainers and social influencers to lead by example.

Breaker was found guilty of spraying ₦200 denomination notes totaling around ₦30,000 at a party in Hadejia, Jigawa State.

Similarly, G Fresh was convicted for spraying bundles of ₦1,000 notes during a shop opening ceremony in the Tarauni area of Kano State.

The EFCC has continued to warn the public about the criminal offense of abusing the Nigerian currency, stressing the need for citizens to uphold the law.
