Mr Eazi Reveals How He Missed Chance to Meet Jay-Z

Mr Eazi reveals how a concert booking made him miss the chance to meet Jay-Z at the 2019 Lion King movie premiere

Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has revealed how a prior concert commitment cost him the opportunity to meet American rapper and business mogul, Jay-Z.

The singer disclosed this during a recent interview with BBC Focus on Africa, explaining that he was invited to attend the 2019 premiere of The Lion King after featuring on Beyoncé’s accompanying album, The Lion King: The Gift.

According to Mr Eazi, Jay-Z was also expected at the premiere, which would have given him an opportunity to meet someone he greatly admires in both music and business.

However, he could not attend because he had already been booked and paid to perform at a concert scheduled for the same date.

Reflecting on the missed opportunity, the singer said he remains hopeful that he will meet the music icon in the future.

“I look up to Jay-Z in both music and entrepreneurship. I worked with Beyoncé on the Lion King music project. I was supposed to go to the movie premiere. Jay-Z was going to be there. But I was already paid to perform at a concert.

“So, I was like, ‘Okay, if I am meant to meet Jay-Z, it would happen another time’,” he said.

Beyond his music career, Mr Eazi also spoke about his business interests across the continent, revealing that he is directly or indirectly involved in commercial activities in more than 20 African countries.
