Kim Kardashian sparked controversy by questioning the historic 1969 Moon landing during the latest episode of The Kardashians. The reality star claimed she believed the Apollo 11 mission, which took Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the Moon, “didn’t happen.”

“I think it was fake. I’ve seen videos of Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn’t happen,” Kardashian told co-star Sarah Paulson, noting she often “centres conspiracy theories.”

NASA reacted quickly. Acting administrator Sean Duffy addressed the claims directly on X, stating, “Yes, we’ve been to the Moon before… six times!” He tagged Kardashian and promoted NASA’s upcoming Artemis mission, America’s renewed effort to return to the Moon.

“We won the last space race, and we will win this one too,” Duffy added, highlighting the scientific and national significance of the mission. He later invited Kardashian to visit the Kennedy Space Center for the next Artemis launch, encouraging public engagement with space exploration.

Kardashian’s curiosity didn’t stop there; she also asked about the interstellar object 3I/Atlas, believed to be one of the oldest comets ever recorded.

For over 50 years, scientists have consistently debunked claims that the Moon landing was faked. The Institute of Physics confirms, “Every single argument claiming NASA faked the Moon landings has been discredited.” Despite Kardashian’s provocative remarks, the scientific record remains clear.
