Comedian sparks online reactions after stating he graduated top of his set at Babcock University and shares alleged certificate as proof

The Carter Efe first class claim surfaced following renewed online discussions triggered by rapper Ycee’s comments on what he described as a growing “Peller culture” that prioritises online fame over formal education.

In a post shared on social media, Carter Efe stated that he studied Biochemistry at Babcock University and graduated as the best student in his set with a “first class upper” result.

“I went to Babcock University. I study Bio chemistry. I came out with first class upper… Best student in my set,” he wrote.

The claim immediately generated scepticism from some social media users, who questioned its accuracy and interpretation, particularly the use of the term “first class upper,” which is not commonly used in standard academic grading systems.

Following the backlash, Carter Efe shared an image of what he described as his academic certificate in an attempt to support his statement.

Theclaim has since become a trending topic, with users divided over whether the comedian was speaking seriously or engaging in satire within the broader “Olodo Uprising” conversation.

The debate continues to draw attention to the intersection of education, entertainment and online culture in Nigeria, where social media discourse often blurs the line between humour and public commentary.
