AAUA student murder stirs outrage as police find decomposing body in boyfriend’s room. Ondo police launch manhunt amid growing campus protests and fear

AAUA Student Murder has shaken the community of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, after the decomposing body of a final-year female student was found inside her boyfriend’s locked room.

The victim was first declared missing after failing to deliver ₦2 million entrusted to her by her POS business employer.Following police investigations, her mobile phone was tracked—leading officers to the residence of her boyfriend.

“When the police arrived, the room was locked. Upon forced entry, they discovered her decomposing body,” said Ondo Police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, during a briefing on Saturday.

The boyfriend is currently at large, while his landlord and others suspected to be involved have been arrested.The police have withheld the victim’s identity due to the gender-based violence nature of the case.

The AAUA Student Union Government (SUG) condemned the murder, calling it the latest in a string of violent crimes targeting students.“We are devastated,” said SUG President Akeem Salami. “She was stabbed and left to rot for days—this is inhumane.”

Students staged a protest that disrupted movement in the town. Though police say normalcy has been restored, trust remains fragile.
