The statement said the assailants targeted Obesere and his team after a burial performance, with one group assaulting the musician’s aide while attempting to seize a bag of money.

Althentic reported that he sustained a dislocated shoulder and multiple blows while trying to protect the money and escort Obesere to safety.

“During the attack, I was beaten, and my shoulder was dislocated. I was also struck with a knife while attempting to get into the car,” Althentic said.

“The attackers overpowered me and made away with the bag of money, while another group continued to manhandle Obesere even after he attempted to placate them.”

Obesere condemned the incident as “criminal and violent behaviour” and called on Ondo State authorities to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

“Such attacks on performers and their teams at public events are unacceptable,” the statement said.

The Okitipupa Local Government chairman, Andrew Ogunsakin, described the incident as “unfortunate and unacceptable” and promised to ensure justice.

“I want to assure the public that the necessary steps will be taken to address this matter and prevent similar occurrences in the future,” Ogunsakin said, adding that he would personally reach out to Obesere and his team.
