Wizkid Marks 15 Years as Davido, Tems Shine in Maryland

Wizkid 15th anniversary takes centre stage as the singer closes AfroPlus Fest in Maryland alongside Davido, Tems and other African music stars

Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, marked his 15th anniversary in music on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as Wizkid, Davido and Tems delivered headline performances at the 2026 AfroPlus Fest at the Northwest Stadium Complex in Maryland, United States.

The three-day festival brought together leading Nigerian, African, Caribbean and American artistes for a celebration of global Black music and culture, spanning Afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall and hip-hop.

Davido headlined the opening day on Friday, September 4, while Tems took the stage on Saturday before Wizkid brought the festival to a close on Sunday.

Wizkid’s closing performance carried particular significance as the singer used the occasion to celebrate 15 years since the beginning of his professional music journey.

The milestone adds another notable chapter to a career that has helped place Nigerian music at the centre of global popular culture.

Wizkid emerged professionally in the late 2000s before releasing his breakthrough debut album, Superstar, in 2011. Since then, the singer has built an international profile through collaborations, major tours and a string of acclaimed projects.

His appearance at AfroPlus Fest also placed him alongside two other defining figures of the modern Nigerian music movement.

Davido brought his energetic performance style to the festival’s opening day, while Tems delivered her own headline set the following evening.

The festival featured an impressive supporting line-up, including Ayra Starr, Olamide, Adekunle Gold, Sarkodie, Odeal and Victony.

The broad mix of performers reflected the growing reach of African music, with Nigerian artistes sharing the stage with performers connected to different strands of Black music around the world.
