VDM Leads Abuja Protest Over Rising Killings, Kidnappings

VeryDarkMan leads Abuja protest demanding action against killings, kidnappings and insecurity, saying Nigerians are tired of fear and violence

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Thursday, June 12, 2026, led a protest in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, demanding urgent government intervention to address rising insecurity, killings, kidnappings and attacks on farming communities across Nigeria.

The demonstration, which formed part of broader public agitation during Democracy Day commemorations, brought together concerned citizens calling for stronger protection of lives, schools and farmlands amid worsening security concerns in several parts of the country.

VeryDarkMan, speaking during the protest, expressed frustration over what he described as the unbearable level of insecurity affecting ordinary Nigerians, stressing that citizens are increasingly living in fear.

According to him, the situation has robbed many communities of peace and safety, especially in rural areas where attacks on farmers and kidnappings have become frequent.

“We are tired of the killings, kidnappings, r@ppings, tired of the people taking over our farmlands and kidn@pp!ngs our children in schools. That’s why we are here when we suppose to be relaxing and enjoying Democracy Day,” he said.

His remarks were met with support from participants who echoed similar concerns, insisting that urgent and decisive action is needed to restore public confidence in national security systems.

The protest added to growing national discourse on insecurity, as reports of abductions, armed attacks and violent crimes continue to spark widespread public outrage and calls for reform.
