Guinness World Record pedicure marathon hopeful Olusanya Samuel plans a 48-hour attempt in Akure from October 29 to 31, 2026
Nigerian pedicurist Olusanya Samuel, popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual in a 48-hour event scheduled to hold in Akure, Ondo State.
Samuel, an Anatomy graduate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, is expected to begin the attempt on October 29 and conclude on October 31, 2026, at Njay Beauty Spa & Salon.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the event is intended to showcase the potential of Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry while raising awareness about foot care and hygiene.
Samuel said his academic background had strengthened his understanding of human physiology and foot care, which he applies in his professional practice.
“My background in anatomy gave me a deeper understanding of human physiology and foot care structure,” he said.
He added that his experience of running a business while studying had taught him that young Nigerians could create employment opportunities by developing practical skills.
“Building a business alongside my studies showed me that young Nigerians do not have to wait for employment; we can create it through skill mastery,” he said.
Samuel said his entrepreneurial journey began in his second year at university, when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques.
Over more than five years, the venture developed from a side business into Sam Pedicures, a brand focused on foot hygiene and professional foot care.
The planned Guinness World Records attempt is also intended to encourage young Nigerians to acquire practical skills and explore entrepreneurship alongside formal education.
Organisers said the event would include live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, food, drinks and free pedicure sessions for attendees.
Samuel completed his primary and secondary education in Ondo State before studying Anatomy at FUOYE.
He is the son of Olusanya Adeleke, from Epe, Lagos State, and Adubi Mercy, from Akunu Akoko, Ondo State.
Through the planned marathon, Samuel hopes to draw international attention to Nigeria’s personal care industry and demonstrate the opportunities available to entrepreneurs in the beauty and wellness sector.
