Uche Ogbodo BBL surgery helped restore her confidence after childbirth. The Nollywood actress says the decision was for mental health, not public approval.
The BBL surgery done on Uche Ogbodo has once again placed the Nollywood actress in the spotlight, following her candid revelations about undergoing the cosmetic procedure to reclaim confidence and protect her mental health.
Speaking in an interview with Saturday Punch, the mother of three explained that her body changed drastically after three cesarean deliveries, affecting her self-image and emotional well-being.
“I didn’t like what I looked like after my third baby. I felt I owed it to myself to be happy and confident,” Ogbodo stated.
“The surgery was for me, for my mental health — not for any other person.”
She noted that her husband supported her throughout the decision, having witnessed the toll childbirth had taken on her physically and emotionally.
While many Nigerian celebrities shy away from disclosing cosmetic enhancements, Ogbodo said her choice to be transparent was rooted in a desire to encourage honesty and empower women struggling with similar challenges.
“In this country, people are often not honest, especially celebrities. You’re a role model, yet you lie to people who genuinely love you,” she said.
“I believe in using my life experiences to encourage women to believe in themselves.”
The actress emphasised that no one is moulded in perfection, especially mothers.
She explained that her transformation was not about vanity but self-restoration, adding that being ‘enough’ for oneself is an act of self-respect**.
Ogbodo also dismissed concerns about the risks associated with BBL, saying she felt safe under the care of professionals. “There’s danger in everything, even in malaria. But I knew I was in the right hands,” she said.
Her openness stands in contrast to the culture of secrecy around body enhancement in the entertainment industry. Ogbodo insists that more women — particularly public figures — should normalise self-improvement choices without shame or denial.
The actress continues to use her platform to discuss issues around motherhood, body image, mental health and personal growth, drawing praise for her honesty and resilience.
