Toriola made the remarks after kneeling to seek forgiveness at the movie premiere of actor Odunlade Adekola.

The actress had sharply criticised Afeez Owo in September after he suggested during a conversation that her assertive film roles mirrored aspects of her real-life personality.

At the time, she dismissed his comments as “rubbish” and questioned why professional disagreements were taken to public platforms, which briefly inflamed tensions among their followers.

Toriola’s gesture at the premiere surprised many guests and immediately softened public discourse.

She told her fans through an Instagram post that she deliberately chose peace, stressing that Nigerian culture places a high premium on reverence for elders.

Her statement described the decision as an act of respect rather than capitulation, and she portrayed the moment as an opportunity to steady the waters after weeks of speculation.

Afeez Owo’s fan page later acknowledged the apology, drawing warm praise from industry colleagues who welcomed the reconciliation.
