Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan brought her 2026 athletics season to a close with a second-place finish in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Athlos meeting in London.
Competing at StoneX Stadium on Friday, Amusan clocked 12.51 seconds in a tightly contested final, finishing just 0.01 seconds behind American Alaysha Johnson, who won the race in 12.50 seconds.
The runner-up finish earned the former world champion $35,000 in prize money under Athlos’ prize structure, capping another impressive campaign on the international circuit.
Amusan lined up against a quality field that included Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas and Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, with the race producing one of the closest finishes of the evening.
The London meeting marked the final event of Amusan’s 2026 season, which also featured a silver-medal performance at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, where she finished behind American Masai Russell.
Despite narrowly missing victory in London, Amusan’s consistent performances throughout the year ensured she remained among the world’s leading 100m hurdlers as she concluded her season on another podium finish.
