The incident, which has now drawn public attention, forms the basis of the Susan Peters iPhone theft case, following her disclosure that the device disappeared from her personal belongings during the emotional memorial gathering attended by colleagues, family members, and industry figures.

In a post shared on her Instagram account on Thursday, Peters stated that her white iPhone 16 Pro Max was taken from her bag during the event.

She expressed concern over the loss of personal information stored on the device and appealed directly to whoever may have taken it to return it.

The actress described the phone as being locked and linked to her US line, stressing that it would be of little use to anyone else.

She also warned that the device contained identifiable information and could be traced, while urging the individual responsible to return it without attempting to sell it.

Peters further expressed disappointment over the incident, questioning how such a theft could occur during what she described as a solemn and emotional occasion.

She called on members of the public to assist in sharing her appeal widely in hopes of recovering the device.

The service of songs where the incident occurred brought together Nollywood stars, gospel ministers, and other dignitaries to honour the late actor, who passed away on May 11 after a battle with kidney cancer.

Pastors Jerry Eze and Ituah Ighodalo ministered at the gathering, where tributes were shared in memory of Ekubo ahead of his burial arrangements scheduled to continue in Abia State.
