Speaking in an interview with VJ Adams, Sabinus explained that after failing to gain admission to study law, he enrolled in Linguistics and Communication Studies at the University of Port Harcourt.

It was during his time at university that he discovered his talent for comedy and began creating skits.

“My dad never wanted me to be what I am today; he wanted me to be a lawyer. I tried my best but couldn’t secure law admission, so I had to settle for Linguistics and Communication Studies at Uniport,” Sabinus said.

He added that after graduation, he initially kept his comedy pursuits secret. It was only a year later, when his father saw him featured on comedy show posters, that he realised Sabinus had entered the industry.

His sisters confirmed the news, prompting a furious reaction from his father.

“He fumed, ‘Which comedy? Stupid business. Look at the boy I sent to become a lawyer,’” Sabinus recalled.
