In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, the former presidential candidate apologised to the assaulted Ibom Air crew but expressed outrage at how Emmanson was treated by authorities.

“Stripping her publicly was not only unnecessary but represents the height of rascality and abuse,” Obi said.

He compared the swift legal action taken against Emmanson to the inaction in other high-profile cases, referencing K1 De Ultimate, who once delayed a commercial flight without facing any legal consequences.

Obi argued that the incident underscores a justice system that is often harsh on the poor while protecting the powerful.

“This case is not just about one woman. It’s about a justice system poisoned by double standards,” he said.

He also called out security operatives and government officials for what he sees as selective enforcement of justice, demanding transparency from the Aviation Ministry and a commitment to fairness for all citizens — regardless of gender or status.

“We must end this selective treatment of the poor. Justice must be just, or it is nothing at all.”
