Mohbad’s father insists on DNA test before burial as court orders paternity check and controversy surrounds process

Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Lagos insisted that his son will not be buried until a DNA test is conducted to determine the paternity of the singer’s child.

The position follows an earlier ruling by a Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, which ordered a Deoxyribonucleic Acid test to establish whether Liam Aloba is the biological son of the deceased.

Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga issued the directive while ruling on an application filed by Joseph Aloba.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok account, Aloba alleged that influential individuals were attempting to frustrate the process, describing the situation as deeply concerning.

He claimed that efforts surrounding the toxicology report yielded no clear outcome and raised doubts about the credibility of a selected DNA testing centre.

Aloba also disclosed plans to consult his lawyer on the possibility of transferring the case from Lagos State to Ekiti State to ensure transparency.

Reaffirming his stance, he appealed to the Lagos State Government to permit the burial of his son but maintained that the Mohbad DNA test before burial remains a critical condition.

He stressed that the test forms part of essential evidence needed to resolve lingering questions.

Earlier reports indicate that the family’s legal representatives raised concerns over the competence of some laboratories proposed for the test.

Family counsel Oladayo Ogungbe said the court had directed that the test be conducted in three mutually agreed laboratories to ensure credibility.

The facilities include DNA Diagnostics Centre, AlphaBiolabs and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited.

According to the lawyer, preliminary checks have raised concerns about the technical competence of some of the facilities, adding another layer of complexity to the already sensitive matter.
