Mohbad Burial Set After DNA Test Confirms Paternity

Mohbad’s burial will proceed after DNA test concludes, resolving paternity dispute between late singer’s father and widow

Lagos, Nigeria – Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad, has revealed that the final burial of his son will take place immediately after the completion of a DNA test.

The 27-year-old singer passed away on September 12, 2025, triggering nationwide attention and calls for justice.

In a viral video on Tuesday, Aloba described the DNA test as the “most important factor” delaying the burial. “Today is the DNA court case, my lawyer is here, and I am telling the whole world that this is the most important thing.

This is what has been delaying the burial of Mohbad. After the DNA is done, we will immediately move on to the burial,” he stated.

The legal process follows a dispute with Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, over the paternity of their son, Liam, which has drawn public scrutiny.

Wunmi’s legal team filed documents at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on November 19, 2025, seeking to prevent any unauthorised claims to the late singer’s estate.

The notice, filed by Salawu, Akingbolu & Co., confirmed Wunmi as Mohbad’s legal wife and the mother of his only surviving child.

Public announcements warning against “surreptitious or fraudulent attempts” to take over the estate were placed in two national newspapers in November.

According to her legal team, the notice will remain binding until the estate is formally and lawfully administered by the court.

The resolution of the DNA test is expected to pave the way for Mohbad’s long-awaited burial and the legal settlement of his estate.
