Examination Malpractice has led to the expulsion of 57 students from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina, in what the institution described as a decisive step to safeguard academic integrity.

In a statement released on Saturday by the university’s Head of Information and Protocol, Hajiya Fatima Sanda, the disciplinary action followed the Senate’s 125th Regular Meeting.

The decision was based on recommendations from the Central Examination Misconduct Committee, which had conducted thorough investigations across multiple faculties.

In addition to the expulsions, five students were rusticated for two semesters during the 2024/2025 academic session, and their examination results were annulled.

Two others received written warnings that have now been permanently added to their academic records.

UMYU stated that the move reinforces its zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice. The university warned that similar violations in the future would be met with equally firm consequences, emphasizing its commitment to academic excellence and institutional integrity.
