The world of football has been left in mourning following the Diogo Jota tragic death , which claimed the lives of the Liverpool star and his brother, Andre Silva.
The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Thursday in the Spanish province of Zamora, sending shockwaves through fans, clubs, and the wider sports community.
Jota, 25, was travelling in a Lamborghini with his brother when the car reportedly suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle.
According to the Spanish Guardia Civil, the car veered off the road and caught fire, leading to both brothers losing their lives instantly.
Andre Silva, also 25, was a professional footballer playing for Portuguese second-tier side Penafiel.
The two siblings were known for their passion for football and had both come through the youth ranks at FC Porto.
Just 11 days before the accident, Jota had married his long-time partner Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three young children. Photos from the wedding on 22 June now stand as poignant memories of a life cut short.

He played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s FA Cup and League Cup triumphs in 2022, and more recently helped the club secure the Premier League title.
His final goal came in the Merseyside derby, a fitting farewell to Anfield faithful.
“We are devastated,” Liverpool said in an official statement. “Diogo was not just a world-class footballer.
He was a wonderful human being.
His presence in our dressing room, his humility, and his constant smile will be sorely missed.”
The Portuguese Football Federation also reacted with deep sorrow.
