Super Falcons arrive Casablanca to begin their campaign at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), touching down in Morocco’s economic capital late Wednesday from Lisbon.

The delegation includes 22 players and coaching staff. Two key players, Folashade Ijamilusi from China and Asisat Oshoala from the United States, had already joined the team in Casablanca ahead of the group stage matches.
The Nigerian squad heads into the tournament on the back of a hard-fought goalless draw against Portugal in a friendly on Monday evening at Estádio José Gomes in Lisbon.
The performance, marked by heroics from goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, strong defending from Shukurat Oladipo, and solid leadership from forward Francisca Ordega, boosted morale within the camp.
Nigeria’s first match at the 13th edition of WAFCON will be against Tunisia on Sunday, 6 July at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

They will later face Botswana and Algeria in the remaining group matches.
The Super Falcons have a proud history in the competition, having won the title nine times and never missing out on a semi-final spot since the tournament’s inception in 1998.
“Our confidence is high, and we know what is expected of us. We are here to compete and to win,” said head coach Randy Waldrum.
