Caterefe Speaks Out on Sidney Talker Advice Controversy

Caterefe Sidney Talker church fallout sparks debate after streamer claims advice from skit maker led him to quit church

Popular Nigerian streamer Caterefe has publicly criticised skit maker Sidney Talker, revealing that advice from the comedian played a decisive role in his decision to stop attending church.

Caterefe made the disclosure during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he reflected on his spiritual journey and career struggles.

The streamer said he had been a consistent churchgoer and looked up to Sidney Talker as a committed Christian before receiving guidance that unsettled him.

According to Caterefe, Sidney Talker advised him to quit streaming at a time when his online presence was beginning to gain traction.

The streamer described the recommendation as malicious, saying it sharply contradicted what he expected from someone he regarded as spiritually devoted.

Caterefe also alleged that Sidney Talker once encouraged him to end his professional partnership with fellow streamer Kolu by offering him one million naira as severance.

Caterefe said he rejected the suggestion and instead strengthened his bond with Kolu, whom he now considers his best friend.

The streamer further claimed that Sidney Talker warned him about potential spiritual attacks linked to Kolu’s former boss, Portable, citing fears of juju.

Caterefe questioned why someone committed to church attendance would express such concerns.

“I used to go to church but I stopped because I noticed that a lot of churchgoers are very malicious,” Caterefe said.

“He advised me to quit streaming when I was beginning to grow. It seemed malicious to me.”

Beyond the controversy, Caterefe revealed that he experienced months of depression before turning to streaming.

He said the decline in the popularity of skit making left him feeling pressured and uncertain about his career path.

Streaming, he explained, proved to be a powerful turning point.

The renewed sense of purpose helped him recover from depression and rebuild his confidence in the digital space.
