Best Afrobeats Songs of All-Time: Billboard ranks 2Face’s ‘African Queen’ #1, with Wizkid making double top 10 entries

Best Afrobeats Songs of All-Time have just been ranked by American music authority Billboard, and the list is already stirring conversations across the globe.

In a bold and nostalgic move, Billboard named 2Face Idibia’s African Queen as the number one Afrobeats song of all time.

The 2004 classic, widely regarded as a continental love anthem, clinched the top spot on a list curated by Billboard staff.

Wizkid made history as the only artist with two songs in the top 10— Ojuelegba at number 2 and Essence (featuring Tems) at number 5, solidifying his legendary status in the genre’s evolution.

Favour’s Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix) anded at number 3, while Rema’s global breakout hit Calm Down took the fourth spot. Rounding out the top 10 were smash hits like CKay’s Love Nwantiti, D’banj’s Oliver Twist, Davido’s Fall, Burna Boy’s Ye, and P-Square’s Chop My Money Remix featuring Akon.

While Nigerian artists dominated the top 20, Ghanaian stars also made their mark.

Fuse ODG’s Azonto (feat. Itz Tiffany) and Sarkodie’s Adonai (feat. Castro) secured spots at 18 and 19, respectively.

Other notable entries include Styl-Plus’ evergreen hit Olufunmi (11), 9ice’s Gongo Aso (12), P-Square’s Do Me (13), and Davido’s early banger Dami Duro (14).

Yemi Alade made waves as the highest-ranking female lead artist with Johnny at number 15.

Wande Coal’s Bumper to Bumper and Phyno’s Fada Fada featuring Olamide wrapped up the top 20, showing the rich diversity and power of Afrobeats across eras.
