The musician made it clear that his transition to Terry Gzus does not represent an end to his music career but a spiritual shift in direction.

Responding to speculations that the new name signals the end of his relevance in the industry, the artist firmly dismissed such views.

“They say my career ended the day I became Terry Gzus,” he wrote. “But let me set the record straight. My journey didn’t end, it was divinely redirected.”

Gzus is not Jesus Christ, but a reflection of the God in me fearless, chosen, and unapologetic. You don’t kill purpose by changing a name.

Terry G explained that “Gzus” is not intended to portray him as Jesus Christ, but rather to signify the divine nature of his evolving identity.

According to him, the name embodies his bold, chosen and unapologetic nature — qualities he believes have defined his journey from the start.

In recent weeks, the artist has used his platform to condemn the disrespect of Nigerian music legends and to reflect on his influence in shaping the industry’s bold expressions, including normalising cannabis use on-screen.
