Aproko Doctor pregnancy scam warning has sparked widespread concern after the popular Nigerian medical influencer exposed an alleged criminal racket involving fake pregnancies and baby trafficking.

Dr Chinonso Egemba, widely known as Aproko Doctor, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to sound the alarm on a troubling trend where women are falsely led to believe they are pregnant, only to be handed trafficked babies months later.

“There’s a pregnancy SCAM going on,” he wrote. “Anybody that tells you that another person cannot see the baby in your womb with an ultrasound scan is about to scam you.”

According to Aproko Doctor, the scheme involves misleading women into believing they have a condition known as cryptic pregnancy.

These women are then discouraged from seeking second opinions or undergoing scans by independent professionals.

He further explained, “If there’s a pregnancy, it would be seen by ultrasound scans. A lot of women are being scammed this way. Then they pump them full of drugs to mimic pregnancy and tell them not to do scans. Then produce a baby and give it to the woman. It’s a criminal racket.”

The Aproko Doctor pregnancy scam warning has drawn attention to the lack of regulation in some fertility and maternity clinics, particularly in rural and informal settings.

Aproko Doctor, who himself survived a brain tumour and frequently uses his platform for public health advocacy, has urged women to insist on proper medical procedures and seek second opinions if told they are pregnant without confirmation via ultrasound.
