A veteran sound engineer with over 20 years of experience, Foster believes the future of music lies in a careful balance between modern technology and traditional audio craftsmanship.

“New generation producers are the ones enjoying the fruit of our hard work,” he said, reflecting on how artificial intelligence, plugins, and digital software have revolutionized the way music is created.

Where once massive consoles and bulky equipment were standard, today’s producers can create hits from a laptop.

Despite this evolution, Zeeno Foster stresses that true excellence still depends on artistry and human touch.

“While software helps, the real mastery lies in hearing well, balancing tones, and also understanding what makes a track resonate universally,” he shared.

From his early days working with analog gear to becoming one of the most sought-after engineers in Afrobeats—crafting hits for stars like Wizkid, Davido, Kizz Daniel, Psquare, and 2Baba—Foster has seen it all.

He believes that while AI has democratized production, it cannot replace the essence of great sound.

“Plugins and software are tools to enhance our craft, not replace it,” he explained. “The skill is in delivering a sound that is pleasing to the ears, regardless of the tools used.”

Foster also applauds the improved structure in the Nigerian music industry.

Unlike in the past, producers and engineers now earn royalties, awards, and credit for their behind-the-scenes work.

“It’s a welcome change. We now enjoy recognition and financial reward for the crucial roles we play.”

He further advocates for a hybrid approach in today’s music landscape—integrating analog skills in live and stage performances with the flexibility of modern digital tools.

According to Foster, this fusion is key to creating timeless music that transcends technology trends.

Beyond the studio, Zeeno is also a media entrepreneur, realtor, farmer, and tech enthusiast.

Since launching his career in 2000, he has mentored aspiring talents, championed innovation, and helped shape the broader Nigerian creative economy.
