Wizkid Praises Asake as Africa’s Exceptional Vocalist

Wizkid praises Asake as one of Africa’s most gifted vocalists, highlighting “Omo Ope” and “Remember” as standout tracks

Lagos, Nigeria — Grammy-winning singer Wizkid has publicly lauded fellow Nigerian artist Asake, calling him one of Africa’s and the world’s most gifted vocalists.

Speaking on Apple Music radio alongside DJ Tunez, Wizkid revealed that Asake’s track “Omo Ope” first captured his attention, though “Remember” has since become his personal favourite.

“‘Omo Ope’ made me an Asake fan from the first listen. But my favourite Asake song is ‘Remember’, I think you have to play that one at my wedding. It is an amazing record,” Wizkid said.

The Afrobeat superstar emphasised Asake’s unique vocal ability, describing him as a blessing to African music.

“You are amazing, you have one of the most special voices from home [Africa] and in the world. I have told you that like a million times, and I am saying it again on the radio,” Wizkid added.

Asake, whose distinct style has been gaining both continental and global recognition, continues to receive endorsements from some of Africa’s leading music figures, reinforcing his growing influence in the industry.
