The music superstar will perform on the festival’s main stage as Detty December begins a 13-day celebration of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment running from December 18 to December 30.

Wizkid’s confirmation gives the festival a major opening-night attraction as organisers build on the momentum of its 2025 debut, which reportedly drew more than 40,000 festivalgoers.

According to Livespot360, Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while a newly introduced Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artists and new sounds from across Africa.

“Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while the newly introduced Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artists, new sounds and breakthrough talents shaping the future of African music,” the organisers said.

The decision to place Wizkid at the centre of the opening night reflects his enduring influence in Nigerian and African popular music, as well as the festival’s ambition to attract audiences with a combination of established stars and emerging performers.

The 2026 edition will feature an expansive line-up of Nigerian, African and international acts, including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz, Phyno, Wande Coal, Fave, Young John, Qing Madi, Ice Prince and Jux, alongside Wizkid.

The festival is expected to form part of Lagos’ busy end-of-year entertainment calendar, when the city attracts visitors and returning Nigerians for a season widely associated with concerts, nightlife, fashion and cultural events.

For Wizkid, the Detty December appearance adds another major home-country performance to an increasingly international career.

The singer has continued to maintain a strong presence on global stages while remaining one of the most recognisable names in Afrobeats.

The introduction of the Pulse Stage also signals an effort to broaden the festival’s appeal beyond established headliners by creating room for younger performers to connect with larger audiences.
