In a heartfelt Instagram video, the 55-year-old singer recounted how four different men “stylishly left” her, often after seeking spiritual counsel about their relationship.

“When I became an adult and it was getting to a stage that I needed to take men to meet my parents, something strange always came up,” Alabi recalled.
“The men would just say they needed to go and pray about it, and afterward, they would stop reaching out to me.”

According to her, the rejections often carried spiritual undertones. One suitor was reportedly discouraged by prophets who warned him against marrying her.

“I can count like four men that stylishly left me. Would you then tell me not to thank God whenever I remember that?”

Eventually, Tope met the man who would become her husband — Soji Alabi — through her boss at work. But even that relationship didn’t begin smoothly.

“The man promised to marry me, but I told him that’s what all men say,” she said, with a hint of humour.
“After he told my parents he would come for proper introduction, we stopped seeing each other. My father had already given out my hand in marriage to another suitor before he travelled.”

Despite the confusion, divine alignment prevailed. Tope and Soji Alabi eventually married and now share three children. She also has a daughter, Ayomikun, from her previous marriage to Lekan Olaoye.

Looking back, the gospel singer expressed gratitude, stating that her experience is a reminder that delay is not denial.

“When I look back, I just thank God for how everything turned out. It was not easy, but it was worth it.”
