Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh on Sunday publicly shared a powerful deliverance testimony at Streams of Joy International Church in Lagos, recounting her transformation from years of addiction, spiritual oppression and emotional turmoil.

The testimony was delivered during the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations service led by the church’s founder and senior pastor, Jerry Eze, and was captured in a video later shared online by DCLImagery.

Speaking before the congregation, Tonto Dikeh said she began smoking at the age of 13 and struggled for decades with alcohol dependency, masturbation and what she described as uncontrollable anger. The actress attributed her change to divine intervention following sustained prayer.

“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation too,” she told the congregation, adding that recurring spiritual afflictions had shaped much of her early life.

Tonto Dikeh said she initially hesitated to speak publicly, citing fears about her reputation, but chose to proceed as an act of gratitude.

“The devil tried to tell me I should protect my image. But the God who gave me that image is the same God who can take it away,” she said.

She traced a major turning point to her participation in the Ghana Prayer Conference, after which she noticed what she described as a release from long-standing spiritual bondage.

“I realised that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream ran away,” she said, describing the moment as decisive in her spiritual journey.

The actress also reflected on years of anger that she said damaged relationships and personal stability, calling it a destructive force that only prayer helped to break.

“I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now,” she said, describing her current state as one of calm and restoration.

Tonto Dikeh disclosed that her smoking habit lasted about 27 years and began through early exposure at home, using her experience as a caution to parents about the influence of harmful behaviours.

Following the testimony, Pastor Jerry Eze prayed for the actress, declaring freedom from what he termed “the body of sin” and describing her as a voice of impact in her generation.

The actress later shared photographs from the church service on Instagram, captioning them: “A living testimony of mercy. One God spared, restored, and commissioned.”
