Speaking on her podcast with Tacha, she criticised societal double standards that stigmatise women for marrying wealthy men, while men pursuing affluent partners often face little scrutiny.

Makinwa noted that many men deliberately marry women from wealthy families, targeting generational wealth without shame.

“People are constantly insulting women for knowing what they want. Men are the biggest gold diggers in the world. They marry generational wealth, and they do it without shame,” she said.

The media personality clarified that her comments were not intended to vilify men who strategically marry for financial security.

She emphasised that marriage has always involved financial considerations for both partners.

“If my brother comes to me with two ladies and asks which one to marry, I will advise him to marry the one from a good financial background,” Makinwa added, highlighting the pragmatic approach both genders take in marital decisions.
