Thrive Girls in STEM has empowered 100 girls aged 15–20 with tech skills in web development, design, and innovation through a seven-day immersive training

Thrive Girls in STEM, a flagship programme of the Thrive Above and Beyond Foundation, has empowered over 100 girls aged 15–20 with cutting-edge tech skills to prepare them for the future of work and innovation.

The seven-day training, which concluded with a dynamic showcase titled “Innovation in Your Hands Day,” provided participants with hands-on training in web development, graphic design, and creative technology.

The initiative also emphasised leadership, critical thinking, and personal growth, giving the girls real-world exposure to collaborative digital projects.

The founder of the Foundation, Bolaji John, explained that the programme’s goal was to help young women understand that innovation is within their grasp.

“We want every girl to know that innovation is not distant or out of reach; it is right in their hands,” she said.

Thrive Girls in STEM was proudly supported by SARA by Wema Bank, Interswitch, Cisco, Speyer Holdings, Page Asset Management, and NetCredit Africa.

Sheila Ash Nelson, Managing Partner at Ash Partners, noted the girls’ promising future:

“It is inspiring to witness this level of potential and energy. The future of innovation is brighter because of platforms like Thrive.”

Also speaking at the event, Abisola Ajila, representing Wema Bank, emphasised the alignment between Thrive’s mission and Wema Bank’s values:

“These girls have shown that with the right guidance, they can take on the future with confidence and creativity.”

The closing ceremony featured project showcases, design challenges, and awards for excellence, reinforcing the Foundation’s belief that young women can lead technological advancement in Africa.
