Terry G Defends ‘Pass Me Your Love’ Amid Backlash

Terry G defends Pass Me Your Love performance, calls out critics for hypocrisy and denies hijacking AY.Com’s hit song during past stage appearances

Nigerian singer and producer Terry G has finally addressed allegations that he hijacked the popular song ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from fellow artist AY.Com, describing the claims as baseless and rooted in ignorance.

The song, which originally belonged to AY.Com and featured Terry G, became a massive hit in the late 2000s.

However, years of criticism followed Terry G’s frequent solo performances of the track, with some fans accusing him of overshadowing or appropriating the song from its originator.

Taking to his X handle, Terry G firmly defended his actions, saying he had every right to perform a track in which he was a featured artist.

“To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from AY.Com — that’s pure ignorance. So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest,” he wrote.

The Free Madness crooner clarified that he never claimed ownership of the track, nor did he include it in any of his albums.

According to him, the accusations were largely driven by public sentiment rather than fact.

Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it.

“And no, I didn’t put the song on my album — it was never about ownership, it was about collaboration,” he added.

In a sharp turn, Terry G went further to suggest that the controversy itself may have affected AY.Com’s music career more than any of his actions.

“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach,” he said in his typical brash style.

The comments have sparked fresh debates online, with fans split over who holds the moral and musical rights to perform the hit song.

While some argue that featured artists deserve just as much performance liberty, others maintain that the original creator should take precedence.

One fan reacted: “Terry G made the song a hit, and you expect him to sit quietly? This man gave it fire.”

Another commented: “AY.Com deserved better. The song was his, and he should have been front and centre during its peak.”
