The gospel musician revealed that one of his breakthrough moments came while he was living as a squatter and creating music from a small makeshift studio.

Frank Edwards said his journey to success was marked by sacrifice, faith and determination, recalling a period when he had limited resources but remained committed to his musical calling.

The singer explained that his mother gave him ₦150,000 in 2011 to establish a small recording space. With the money, he built a modest studio corner inside the room where he was staying with someone else.

According to Frank Edwards, the environment was far from ideal, but it did not stop him from producing music that would later define his career.

He revealed that he recorded his popular song “Mma Mma” while living close to a busy roadside, using a blanket to reduce external noise during recording sessions.

“I recorded ‘Mma Mma’ under a blanket because we lived close to the roadside. I had only two pairs of jeans and ate once a day, but God still lifted me,” Frank Edwards said.

The singer recalled that the song eventually attracted attention and became a turning point in his career after he met a music marketer who offered him a ₦4 million recording deal.

Frank Edwards described the moment as a surprising reward after years of hardship, saying he accepted the offer immediately after seeing the figure on the agreement.

“I just flipped the paper, saw where they wrote ₦4 million and signed it. No need to read it. Make I chop first,” he said.

The gospel artiste’s account highlights the difficult beginnings behind many successful creative careers, where persistence and opportunity often meet after years of unseen effort.

Frank Edwards has remained one of Nigeria’s leading gospel musicians, known for songs that have gained popularity among Christian audiences in Nigeria and beyond.

His rise from recording in a difficult environment to becoming an internationally recognised gospel artiste has continued to inspire discussions about resilience and commitment.
