Nigerian businesswoman Sharon Adeleke, sister of Afrobeats superstar Davido, has encouraged celebrities and public figures to feel comfortable repeating outfits, saying fashion choices should not be controlled by public expectations or online criticism.

Adeleke shared her views in a recent vlog, where she spoke about the pressure entertainers often face to appear in new clothes at every event.

The message challenges the idea that celebrities must constantly showcase new outfits to maintain their public image, with the businesswoman arguing that repeating favourite pieces should be considered normal.

Adeleke revealed that members of her team have sometimes questioned her decision to wear an outfit she had previously used, but she chooses not to be influenced by concerns over public reactions.

She explained that she recently attended an event without preparing a new outfit and decided to wear something she had worn before despite objections from her team.

“Last Sunday, I have an event and I did not have anything made for it. So, I decided to wear something that I have wore before and my team objected that people have seen it before and they will see it again. But I wore it anyway,” Adeleke said.

She urged celebrities and fashion-conscious individuals not to feel pressured into buying or creating new outfits simply to satisfy public expectations.

“Don’t let anybody tell you you can’t repeat your clothes. I will re-rock as many times as I like. I am not going to let anybody put unnecessary pressure on me,” she said.

Adeleke added that wearing the same clothes multiple times should not be viewed negatively and encouraged people to confidently reuse outfits they enjoy.

“Don’t be afraid to repeat your clothes. Re-rock as many times as you like,” she advised.

Her comments come amid growing conversations around sustainable fashion, where designers, influencers and consumers are increasingly promoting responsible clothing choices and reducing waste.
