Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, whose full name is Oyekunle Opeyemi Oluwaremi, said on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, that he had stopped performing dangerous Kunle Remi movie stunts after becoming a father.

The comment, shared in a clip circulating on entertainment pages, ties a change in on-set habit to the birth of his daughter.

“I stopped doing movie stunts after becoming a father. I have a daughter now, get a stunt double,” he said.

Mr Kunle Remi and his wife, Tiwi, welcomed their daughter, Wonder Oluwaremi, in early 2025.

He has since posted the ordinary labour of new parenthood: night waking, babysitting when his wife went to the salon, a joke about tiny heels, and later a first-birthday film of the child’s birth.

Those clips made him one of the more visible first-time fathers on Nigerian Instagram. The stunt remark is the same story told from the set rather than the sitting room.

He is not an unknown quantity in physical roles. He won Gulder Ultimate Search in 2010, trained at the New York Film Academy and has appeared in Falling, Aníkúlápó, Tinsel and other titles. Industry notes also place him in early stunt work more than a decade ago.

Asking for a double is not a retreat from acting. It is how most screen industries already separate the face the camera needs from the body that takes the fall.

Nollywood still often asks stars to do their own risk, partly for budget, partly for proof of grit. Insurance, unions and specialist coordinators are uneven.

A public “get a stunt double” line therefore does two jobs. It protects a parent who does not want a broken neck in the next fight scene. It also nudges producers who would rather save the extra fee.

Nothing in the circulating clip lists which films he will now refuse, or whether he has already walked off a particular shot. The statement is a preference, not a contract clause.

What it does confirm is a shift he has been advertising for more than a year: the man who once sold adventure reality television now measures a scene against a child at home.
