Bimbo Ademoye Toronto reunion: the actress surprises makeup artist La Cici in Canada after almost 10 years, following a TIFF film trip

Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye surprised her close friend and makeup artist, La Cici, in Toronto, Canada, in a hotel-room reunion filmed and shared online in mid-September 2026.

The two women had not seen each other in person for nearly 10 years, and the clip of their embrace has drawn warm comment from fans.

They first met during National Youth Service Corps days at the Paiko camp in Minna. Ms Bimbo Ademoye stayed in Nigeria and built a screen career. La Cici moved to Toronto and works as a professional makeup artist. Friendship continued at a distance.

The actress was in the city for the Toronto International Film Festival screening of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, the EbonyLife adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s novel, directed by Daniel Oriahi.

The film premiered on 11 September in TIFF’s Centrepiece programme, with sold-out screenings, and is due in Nigerian cinemas from 4 December. Castmates include Odunlade Adekola, Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe and Omowunmi Dada. The festival trip gave cover for a second plan.

To keep the secret, Ms Bimbo Ademoye asked a mutual friend, Halima, to book La Cici as if for a wedding client needing four days of makeup. A deposit was paid. La Cici arrived at the hotel expecting a stranger and found her NYSC friend waiting. In the circulated video Ms Bimbo Ademoye repeats, “I got you,” then jokes, “If you cry, I will beat you,” as both women laugh and hold on.

Viewers treated the clip as a small mercy in a noisy week. One commenter, @official_nonyenaija, wrote: “Awwwwnnn I’m sure you had such an amazing time with your faves.” Another, @sheva_chah, said the stunt was exactly the sort of birthday surprise planned for an aunt. @adejoju001 called the actress “such a sweet soul.”
