Jake Paul Reports Nose Injury Ahead of Joshua Fight

Jake Paul suffers a nose injury while sparring ahead of his Dec. 19 fight with Anthony Joshua, raising concerns ahead of the highly anticipated bout

Miami, Florida — Jake Paul, the 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, revealed on Wednesday that he is nursing a nose injury just one week before his scheduled fight against former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Paul disclosed during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that the injury worsened during sparring sessions in preparation for the Dec. 19 bout at Kaseya Center.

“It’s getting more crooked, brother,” Paul said. “I’m not gonna lie. Sparring the heavyweights, my nose has moved a couple millimetres this camp.”

Although Paul did not confirm whether his nose is broken, he admitted it had sustained damage from sparring with Frank Sanchez, noting the visible misalignment.

The eight-round fight, billed as “Jake vs. Joshua: Judgment Day,” will feature fighters wearing 10-ounce gloves and will stream live on Netflix.

Anthony Joshua, 36, who has not fought since a fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in London on Sept. 21, 2024, brings a record of 28 wins and four losses, including 25 knockouts.

Paul, whose professional record stands at 12 wins and one loss with seven knockouts, has won his last six bouts, most recently defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision in June.

Joshua won the super-heavyweight gold medal at the 2012 London Summer Games and dominated the early years of his professional career before consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

The injury raises fresh concerns for Paul as he approaches one of the most high-profile bouts of his boxing career.
