An emergency shutdown has been reported on Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Ilorin, Kwara State, following a collision involving a Sienna bus reportedly carrying gas cylinders and drums of carbide.
The incident occurred after the vehicle allegedly lost control following brake failure, before crashing into three other vehicles and causing panic among residents and road users.
The Sienna was reportedly carrying 23 gas cylinders and six drums of carbide at the time of the crash, raising concerns over the potential risk of fire or explosion at the scene.
The driver sustained injuries in the incident and was reportedly attended to following the crash.
The emergency response prompted the temporary shutdown of the affected section of Ibrahim Taiwo Road as authorities worked to secure the area and prevent further danger to motorists and pedestrians.
