Abdulsalam Yusuf, a six-year-old boy from Kwara State, has made history by winning gold in the Scrabble competition at the National Youth Games, Asaba 2025.

Yusuf, alongside teammate Olamide Hassan, clinched the medal in the male doubles event after defeating Team Niger, becoming one of the youngest medalists in the history of the Games.

Speaking after the medal presentation, Yusuf attributed his success to hard work, focus, and a passion for the game.

He highlighted how Scrabble helps him develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills, and expressed excitement about representing Kwara and Nigeria at higher levels.

The young champion also thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Mogaji, for providing platforms for young athletes to showcase their talents.
